I had an interesting analogy come to me today while I was at the gym. Came to me thinking about an old friend of mine and her dating issues. She says she is having a hard time landing a man and she is getting sick of being single.
The analogy is this, Relationships and sex are like cake and icing. People are mysteries, and dating someone is like solving that mystery. Sharing laughs and struggles with someone is solving that mystery, and having that mystery to solve makes life worth living. This is the cake of a relationship. Sex is the icing. A good cake needs to be iced. Icing makes the cake so much better.
But there is a catch. Icing needs to be on the cake. Really shouldn't be having too much icing without the cake. Its okay to have the icing by itself occasionally. But eventually, most people really want the cake. With icing. And the reverse is true too, too much cake without icing gets boring too!
Its been a while now since I've had some good cake...
